Verdant Keep
Plant a living maze. Shape the swarm’s route with thorns, frost and spores, and defend the elder tree.
Getting your game ready. One moment.
About this game
Verdant Keep is a maze-building tower defense. Every plant is both a tower and a barrier that changes enemy routes. Turn a straight road into a winding corridor under your plants’ fire, while keeping an open route from every entrance to the elder tree. Twelve authored maps span Dewlight Glade, Firefly Marsh, Dusk Garden and Elder Sanctuary. Unlock five plants: rapid Thorn Archers, slowing Frostbells, splash-damage Seed Mortars, armor-piercing Sporecaps and Sunblooms that boost damage and earn sap. A boss with special abilities guards each chapter finale. There is no build timer. Routes update as you plant and remove towers. During battle, upgrade, change speed, or cast Grasping Roots. Earn pollen for permanent health, starting sap and damage research. Every wave saves a checkpoint, with two difficulties, keyboard and touch controls, and save-file import and export.
How to play
Get to know the controls, then take things at your own pace.
- Choose a plant, then select an open tile. Dotted lines show the swarm’s routes. Placements that block any entrance are refused. Entrances, the tree and stones cannot be planted.
- Select a plant to upgrade or remove it. New plants refund in full during the current build phase, then 70% after battle. During a wave you can upgrade, but cannot change routes.
- Press “Start next wave” when ready. There is no build timer. Switch between 1× and 2× speed. Every cleared wave saves a checkpoint.
- Press “Grasping roots”, then select a tile to damage and root nearby enemies. Cooldown is 24 seconds; bosses break free sooner.
- Keyboard: arrows or WASD move the cursor; 1–5 choose a plant; Enter plants; U upgrades; X removes; Space starts a wave; Q aims roots; F changes speed; Escape pauses or cancels aiming.
- Earn pollen for permanent research that applies to new defenses. Reloading or leaving during battle returns to the start of that wave. Export a file in Archives before changing devices.
